Educational and Professional Background
Mark Dooley received his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Seattle in 2002, and earned a Masters in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College in 1993. Mark is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Child Mental Health Specialist, a WA State Approved Clinical Supervisor, and is often summoned as an Expert Witness. In 2011, he surpassed 10,000 hours of direct psychotherapy, including inpatient, intensive outpatient, wilderness, in-home, integrated healthcare, and private practice settings. Along with his clinical training and experience, Mark's work utilizes informal mindfulness study as well as graduate research on mutually healing relationships with nature. Outside of his psychotherapy practice, Mark serves as Vice President of Time In Play Cafe Incorporated.
Areas of Special Interest
Mark Dooley works with all age groups and practices individual, family, and couples therapy. He specializes in adolescent and young adult populations and is clinically trained in a variety of approaches to child and adolescent therapy. His work is influenced by Existential Theory’s emphasis on revealing and addressing healthy anxiety, Process Oriented insight and change, and Family Systems view of people in the context of their closest relationships. Mark is also educated and practiced in engaging the healing potential of human/nature relationships via Ecotherapy, and is often accompanied in treatment by his therapy dog Stella. Further professional training and experience includes Native American and GLBT populations, HIV+, homeless youth, suicide prevention, foster and adoptive families, trauma survivors, infidelity, medical psychotherapy, clinical supervision, parenting and mental health assessments, and legal testimony. Mark actively applies all aspects of his life experience and learning to his practice of psychotherapy.
