Educational and Professional Background
Lori Michelson, MSW, received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Tulane University in 1992 and has been practicing ever since. She has had extensive experience working with all client groups covering a wide range of therapy issues. Her past experience ranges from working with children and teens through adults and seniors in individual, couple, and family settings. She currently limits her practice to working with adults and older adolescents - individuals and couples.
Having Type I Diabetes since the age of 28, Lori has had years of first-hand experience with facing the many challenges of diabetes. She is in a unique position to combine her professional skills and training with her personal experiences to offer valuable help to people with diabetes and other chronic physical illnesses. Lori also works extensively with clients who have general mental health issues. She draws from many counseling approaches and uses whichever will most effectively help each of her clients. These techniques include cognitive behavioral, insight-oriented, Gestalt, solution-focused, and dialectical behavior therapy.

Directions to Office
Located in downtown Bellingham in the Herald Building at the corner of State Street and Chestnut. From I-5, get off at Lakeway - Exit 253. Stay on Lakeway as it merges into Holly Street. Get in left lane and turn left onto State Street. Stay in left lane. Go one block and cross Chestnut. Immediately on your left is an outdoor parking lot free of charge for people who have business in the Herald Building. The Herald Building is on State Street, directly across from the parking lot.
